About seven years ago, University of Chicago economists Kerwin Kofi Charles and Erik Hurst were researching the “wealth gap” between black and white Americans when they noticed something striking. African Americans not only had less wealth than whites with similar incomes, they also had significantly more of their assets tied up in cars. The statistic fit a stereotype reinforced by countless bling-filled hip-hop videos: that African Americans spend a lot on cars, clothes, and jewelry—highly visible goods that tell the world the owner has money.

Top Windows System Processes

Windows Process Information: systray.exe

Process name: Microsoft System Tray Services

systray.exe is a background process which displays information such as date and time. This program is important for the stable and secure running of your computer and should not be terminated.

Recommendation

systray.exe should not be disabled as it is required for essential applications to function properly.

Windows Process Information: system idle process

System Idle Process contains one or more kernel threads which run when no other runnable thread can be scheduled on a CPU. For example, there may be no runnable thread in the system, or all runnable threads are already running on a different CPU. In a multiprocessor system, there is one idle thread associated with each CPU.

Windows Process Information: system

Process name: Windows Memory Handler System Process

system is a process which shows up on the tasks on mainly Windows XP, Windows 2003 server and later version of Windows. This is a default system counter and cannot be removed.

Recommendation

system should not be disabled as it is required for essential applications to function properly.

Windows Process Information: sysocmgr.exe

Process name: System Optional Component Manager

sysocmgr.exe is a process associated with System Optional Component Manager from Microsoft.

sysocmgr.exe should not be disabled as it is required for essential applications to function properly.

Windows Process Information: sysmon.exe

Process name: AOpen System Monitor

sysmon.exe from AOpen is a Motherboard hardware monitoring tool which comes with some AOpen motherboards. This startup process monitors CPU temp, voltage and fan speed. This program is a non-essential system process, but should not be terminated unless suspected to be causing problems.

Other instances of SYSMON.EXE:
  • sysmon.exe is a process which is registered as a trojan. This Trojan allows attackers to access your computer from remote locations, stealing passwords, Internet banking and personal data. This process is a security risk and should be removed from your system.
Warning: Multiple instances of SYSMON may be running on your pc at one time. Some of these may or may not be the legitimate versions.

Recommendation

sysmon.exe should not be disabled as it is required for essential applications to function properly.

Windows Process Information: sysfader.exe

Process name: NVidia Graphics Utility

sysfader.exe is a process belonging to the NVidia Graphics device range and is bundled alongside these products. This is a non-critical system process although it should not be terminated unless suspected of causing problems.

Recommendation

sysfader.exe should not be disabled as it is required for essential applications to function properly.

Windows Process Information: syntpenh.exe

Process name: Synaptics touchpad tray icon

syntpenh.exe is a process installed alongside the Synaptics touchpad for laptop computer touchpads. Provides additional configurations and support, and is essential on some machines for the functioning of this input device. This program is a non-essential system process, but should not be terminated unless suspected to be causing problems.

Recommendation
syntpenh.exe should not be disabled as it is required for essential applications to function properly.
